Recently, the Ministry of Commerce held a national e-commerce work video conference, during which the excellent cases of business technology innovation application for the year 2022 were announced, and Cainiao’s Smart City Delivery Logistics System was selected.

Since 2019, Cainiao has been building a smart city logistics big data platform based on artificial intelligence to push the construction of the Smart Park logistics management system in cities.

By applying “spatiotemporal AI prediction capability” to urban logistics prediction problems, Cainiao has significantly improved the accuracy of time and path predictions and enhanced the quality of delivery services based on its self-developed deep spatiotemporal prediction model.

In the last-mile delivery process, Cainiao has fully applied “logistics multimodal AI cognitive decision-making technology” to logistics decision-making processes to enhance consumer logistics experience. Cainiao’s “building code” technology helps delivery personnel sort packages in advance based on consumers’ building codes, increasing delivery efficiency by 10%. The “real doorstep fulfillment recognition model” ensures the authenticity and effectiveness of courier deliveries through AI technology. Currently, this technology has been widely used in scenarios such as “Tmall supermarket doorstep delivery” and “Cainiao logistics station doorstep delivery.”

It is reported that the Cainiao Smart City Delivery Logistics System has been applied in various logistics scenarios such as Cainiao direct delivery, Cainiao Guoguo returns and personal shipments, and Cainiao logistics station doorstep delivery, effectively improving the operational efficiency of vehicles, couriers, and logistics station staff. It has also built an automated organizational management process through capabilities such as order allocation, intelligent packing, and decision-making, providing the industry with a set of cost-reducing and efficiency-increasing solutions.

It is understood that the Ministry of Commerce selects excellent cases of business technology innovation applications to accelerate the development of digital commerce, promote the transformation of commercial technology achievements, and help traditional commercial enterprises digitize and upgrade. Excellent cases need to be replicable, have promotion value, and demonstrate leadership, innovation, and demonstration in business practices.
