Recently, Cainiao and Fubang Logistics jointly announced that after a month of trial operation, the intelligent automated warehousing project located in Ningbo Free Trade Zone has been officially put into use. This project is customized by Cainiao Logistics Technology for Fubang Logistics.

The project replaces manual picking with “AGV goods-to-person” equipment, using fully automated operation devices. It uses high-capacity storage shelves and “our-way shuttle trolleys” to replace traditional high-level forklifts and scarce personnel, greatly improving operational efficiency and storage capacity, and reducing personnel work pressure.

By deploying the self-developed pallet four-way shuttle system of Cainiao, this project has become the first pallet four-way shuttle vertical warehouse in Ningbo Free Trade Zone, playing a leading role in upgrading local warehousing and logistics.

Thanks to the rapid development of e-commerce, there is a strong demand for warehouse automation in the domestic market. Especially in the past two years, against the backdrop of rising labor costs, various large warehouses and sorting centers in the country have increased their efforts in building automated storage facilities. As the first logistics company in Ningbo to land on the “New Third Board”, Fubang Logistics is also a representative of the above trend.

Up to now, the area of Fubang Logistics' bonded logistics warehouse has expanded from the original 5,000 square meters to 100,000 square meters, and the daily volume has also increased from an average of 3,000 orders to an average of 20,000 orders. While the business is rapidly developing, Fubang Logistics is also facing pressure from increased costs in terms of resources, manpower, warehousing, and more. Therefore, Fubang Logistics turned its attention to warehouse automation.?

“In this project, Fubang Logistics' needs are focused on two points: improving storage capacity and increasing operational efficiency”, said Zhou Lili, PMO of Cainiao Logistics Technology. Based on these goals, Cainiao Logistics Technology, with its rich experience and leading integration capabilities, has comprehensively applied various automated equipment such as AGV robots, four-way shuttle trolleys, elevators, sorting lines with swing wheels, and shelving systems. Meanwhile, combined with Cainiao's self-developed WES and WCS warehouse automation system, the project achieves fully automated operations from inbound to outbound.

As the first pallet shuttle vertical warehouse built by Cainiao Logistics Technology, the storage space utilization of this project is 3 to 5 times that of a regular flat warehouse. The application of AGV robots has also increased picking efficiency by about 60% compared to before.

Not only that, with the support of technology, the management of people and goods is also reaching a new level. “The system's management of goods reduces errors in storing goods. The automation of goods during transportation has reduced the rate of damage to the goods. The pressure on warehouse staff has also decreased, and they can quickly start working after simple training. In general, through the automation and intelligence of warehousing, management has shifted from traditional 'result-oriented' to 'process control', and from traditional 'data entry' to 'data collection', effectively improving the level of enterprise production management”.
