Recently, China’s most prestigious award in AI science and technology — the Wu Wenjun AI Science & Technology Award— announced its 2024 winners. Cainiao’s self-developed technology and use cases for Intelligent Learning and Control for Smart Logistics Systems?was honored with the Science Progress Award, making it the only winning project from the logistics industry.

Cainiao’s project team began its R&D efforts in 2017, developing an industrial-grade intelligent learning and control system?with fully proprietary intellectual property. This AI-powered system has been widely deployed across Cainiao’s operations, including China warehousing and delivery, cross-border logistics, and urban and rural distribution networks.?

Beyond logistics, the technology also extends to the smart manufacturing sector, optimizing logistics network planning, boosting operational efficiency, and generating billions of RMB in economic value.?

As a global leader in smart logistics, Cainiao continues to drive the commercialization and international expansion of its logistics technologies. Its L4 autonomous delivery vehicles are now available across China, operating in more than 30 districts and counties. Additionally, Cainiao's automation and digitalization projects have been rolled out in 28 countries.

The “Wu Wen Jun AI Science & Technology Award” is named after the renowned Chinese distinguished mathematician and AI pioneer,?Mr. Wu Wenjun. It is known as the "China's Highest Award for Intelligent Science and Technology", representing the highest honor in the field of artificial intelligence.
